WHO ARE EUCALYPT BANJOS?

The entire staff of Eucalypt Banjos
in their Mount Nebo Workshop
Anne and Roger Simpson are husband and wife team
of banjo makers. We are not simply assemblers. Every neck, resonator, rim
and fingerboard is handmade by us using the finest of selected
Australian timbers.
Roger Simpson has migrated through boatbuilding, the
maritime industry, commercial flying and flight instruction to finally returning to
his lifelong passion of the banjo. Anne is a medical
practitioner who started with woodturning and woodcarving as a
hobby. She then learned the technique of wood inlay, called
marquetry, from Geoff Hannah ( one of the world's best
exponents of this art) adapting it to the curved surface of a
banjo resonator. She is now extending this technique to pearl
inlay for fingerboards and peg heads.
We are not a
big company, just the two of us or, as our American friends
would say, a Ma and Pa business. Everything is hand crafted
in our workshop the old fashioned way and, of course, you
have direct contact with us during the building of your
banjo and hopefully many years to come. We are happy to say
that all Eucalypt Banjo owners have become very good
friends. What more can we ask.
A SORT OF MISSION
STATEMENT
Eucalypt
Banjos have a total commitment to making the finest
possible banjos at the lowest price.
'Finest possible' refers not only to the craftsmanship
but also to the tonal qualities, clarity, sustain, and
resonance of the instrument. This we guarantee.
Hence, we
only deal directly with the owner both within Australia
and internationally , or with carefully selected
representatives to save you the distribution and dealer
costs. The Eucalypt "e", with a gum
leaf threaded through it, is inlayed into the peghead of
every banjo.
We are also committed to using the
finest select Australian timbers sourced only from
ecologically sound and licensed suppliers. Our commitment extends to promoting
homespun music, old timey music, bluegrass, the banjo, acoustic music
and, perhaps most importantly, getting younger members
of our society to learn a musical instrument.
